The 41st edition of the Transhumance
The 41st edition of the Fete de la Transhumance took place on Monday, June 9, 2025, Whit Monday, in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. True to tradition, thousands of sheep, goats, and donkeys crossed the streets of the town center, escorted by shepherds in traditional costume, sheepdogs, and Provençal carts.
The pastoral market brought together producers of sheep cheese, wool, honey, and local products from the Alpilles, while the giant aioli gathered locals and visitors on the main avenue. This festive day confirmed the Fete de la Transhumance as one of the most popular and authentic events on the Provençal calendar.
