Looking Back at the 2025 Edition

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, the Fête du Papogay once again enlivened the streets of Rieux-Volvestre. Starting at 3 PM, the procession of costumed archers began its march from the Parc des Jacobins, winding through the alleys of the historic town to the cheers of the crowd.

Music groups provided entertainment throughout the parade, creating a medieval and festive atmosphere. From 4:30 PM, the shooting began in the park, with each archer attempting to hit the wooden bird perched atop the mast. The competition, followed passionately by spectators, continued until late afternoon.

This edition confirmed the attachment of the residents of Rieux-Volvestre and visitors to this unique tradition, inherited from the Middle Ages and perpetuated since 1957.
