National Day and large popular evening at Île Saint-Germain on July 13th in Issy-les-Moulineaux
Every July 13th, Issy-les-Moulineaux celebrates the National Day with a large popular evening at Île Saint-Germain. Lantern parade, light show, fireworks, and firefighters' ball bring residents together in an exceptional natural setting on the banks of the Seine. A friendly and republican celebration organized for the whole family.
Every July 13th, the town of Issy-les-Moulineaux offers its residents a National Day celebration of great beauty and rare conviviality. The chosen setting, the Parc Départemental de l'Île Saint-Germain, is one of the most beautiful natural spaces in the Parisian suburbs: a green island in the heart of the Seine, a few minutes from the city center.
One of the most magical and original moments of the Issy National Day is the lantern parade. Starting at 8:30 PM, luminous lanterns are distributed free of charge to participants at the entrance of the Parc Départemental de l'Île Saint-Germain (avenue Jean Monnet). At 9:45 PM, the parade sets off: young and old, lanterns in hand, walk through the park in a luminous and moving procession, creating an intimate and popular spectacle of great beauty.
At 9:15 PM, even before the parade, the Parc Départemental de l'Île Saint-Germain transforms with a light show that immerses visitors in a magical atmosphere. The grand fireworks display follows at 10:30 PM, illuminating the sky above the Seine in a pyrotechnic spectacle enjoyed each year by thousands of Issy residents.
Alongside the festivities at Île Saint-Germain, Place Jacques Madaule hosts festive activities for the residents of the city center. This complementary program allows those who cannot travel to Île Saint-Germain to also celebrate the National Day in their neighborhood.
On the night of July 13th, the Issy-les-Moulineaux Rescue Center (75 boulevard Gallieni) is the scene of the traditional firefighters' ball. From 9 PM to 2 AM, the Issy firefighters open their doors to welcome residents in a festive and friendly atmosphere. This republican tradition, which perpetuates the link between the barracks and the city, is one of the most appreciated moments of the National Day in Issy.
Issy-les-Moulineaux is known for being one of the main digital and media hubs in Île-de-France, hosting the headquarters of many companies in the communication, digital, and video game sectors. This modernity is accompanied by a rich cultural life and a strong attachment to popular traditions, of which the National Day is the most emblematic expression.
