Fête de la Figue de Caromb - 2025 Edition

The Fête de la Figue was held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, in the village of Caromb, at the foot of Mont Ventoux. This festive and popular day celebrated the Long Black Fig of Caromb, an emblematic local variety, under the guidance of the Confrérie de la Figue Longue Noire, in a convivial and Provençal atmosphere.

The large producers' market brought together fig growers from Caromb and neighboring villages, as well as other local producers: market gardeners, olive oil producers offering their Rhône Valley oils, beekeepers with their lavender and garrigue honeys, Ventoux and Côtes du Rhône AOC winegrowers, cheesemakers, and jam makers. Visitors could taste, buy, and interact directly with the producers in the spirit of short supply chains.

The free tasting of ripe Long Black Figs allowed a large audience to discover the gustatory richness of this local variety: purplish-red flesh of intense sweetness, thin and slightly resistant skin, discreet and enchanting aroma. Culinary preparations showcased the fig in all its forms: homemade jam, dried figs, fig tapenade, goat cheese with figs, and figs with honey. The induction ceremony of new members of the Brotherhood was a moment that blended the solemnity of the ritual with southern good humor, to the applause of the public. Provençal musical entertainment, street shows, and children's games completed a festive and free day in the finest tradition of terroir festivals.
