Edition 2024 — New Lentil Festival
2024 edition of the Festival of the New Lentil in Le Puy-en-Velay, marked by the biennial grand chapter of the Verte Confrérie de la Lentille du Puy. Thirty gastronomic and wine brotherhoods from all over France paraded through the streets of Le Puy on Saturday, August 3, 2024, with over 150 costumed participants. Tastings of the new harvest of Puy green lentil AOP, culinary demonstrations, activities, and a gastronomic meal in the evening.

Festival of the New Lentil 2024 - Grand Chapter of the Verte Confrérie
On Saturday, August 3, 2024, Le Puy-en-Velay hosted an exceptional edition of the Festival of the New Lentil, coinciding with the biennial grand chapter of the Verte Confrérie de la Lentille du Puy. For this occasion, 30 gastronomic and wine brotherhoods from all over France gathered in the city of Le Puy to celebrate the Puy green lentil AOP.
The grand parade animated the markets of Le Puy from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., following a route passing through the town hall, Rue Crozatier, Place du Breuil, Boulevard Maréchal Fayolle, Place Cadelade, Rue Chèvrerie, Rue Chaussade, Place du Plot, Rue Pannessac, the covered market square, Rue Saint-Jacques, and back to Place du Plot. Among the participating brotherhoods, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region was the most represented, including Drôme garlic, Gerzat pansette, Saint-Péray wine, Chabeuil caillette, Saint-Nectaire, and Solaize blue leek. Several national brotherhoods had also made the trip: Aude wine, Challans duck, Mayenne tripe, and Piolenc garlic.
Throughout the day, producers and packagers offered tastings of the new harvest of Puy green lentils, while activities, sports challenges, and culinary demonstrations punctuated the festivities. The day concluded with a gastronomic meal bringing together the brotherhoods and lovers of green lentils.
