Fireworks on the Seine, popular ball and Couscous en Folie to celebrate July 14th
The National Day of Corbeil-Essonnes is one of the most festive in Essonne: a popular ball in front of the Hôtel de Ville, a torchlight procession to the banks of the Seine, and a grand fireworks display fired from the Quai Maurice-Riquiez. A friendly event that has combined republican tradition and popular festivity for decades.
Each year, the town of Corbeil-Essonnes celebrates July 14th with a particularly rich festive program. Located at the confluence of the Seine and the Essonne, the town takes advantage of this exceptional setting to offer its inhabitants and visitors a high-quality pyrotechnic show, visible from both banks of the river.
The Corbeil festivities on July 14th take place mainly on the evening of July 13th and cover several districts of the town. The day begins with festive activities in the town center, before moving on to the evening's traditional highlights.
At 7 PM, the Hôtel de Ville square hosts a popular ball animated by a live music group. At 9 PM, a second ball is organized at the Comte-Haymon square with an orchestra, allowing all residents of the town to enjoy a festive space close to their neighborhood. A friendly atmosphere is guaranteed, with refreshments and food available on site.
In the evening, a torchlight procession leaves the town center and heads towards the right bank of the Seine. This luminous procession, a quintessential republican tradition, brings together people of all ages before the highlight of the evening. At 11 PM, the grand fireworks display is launched from the Quai Maurice-Riquiez, offering a striking spectacle reflected in the waters of the Seine.
Since 2025, the National Day of Corbeil-Essonnes has been enriched with an original gastronomic dimension: the Couscous en Folie festival. On July 13th, 2025, the town transformed into the Parisian region's capital of couscous from noon to 10 PM, with ten selected restaurateurs from the Paris region competing for the title of best couscous. This initiative, reflecting the town's cultural diversity and richness, combines gastronomy and national celebration in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
With approximately 50,000 inhabitants, Corbeil-Essonnes is one of the most important towns in Essonne. Its history is closely linked to the Seine: a flourishing medieval town, an active river port in the Middle Ages, it experienced significant industrialization in the 19th century, notably with the Darblay paper mills. Today, the town values its historical heritage and its natural riverside setting, which provide the ideal backdrop for the July 14th festivities.
The National Day in Corbeil-Essonnes takes on a particularly friendly dimension, reflecting the diversity and vitality of a town that has always been built on welcoming and mixing populations. It is this human richness that gives the republican celebrations their full flavor.
The Corbeil fireworks display is one of the most popular in the department. Launched from the banks of the Seine, it offers a doubly magical spectacle: luminous bursts explode in the sky before reflecting in the river's waters, creating a striking visual effect. Thousands of spectators gather each year on both banks to enjoy the show, some even setting up boats on the river for a breathtaking view.
The 2026 National Day in Corbeil-Essonnes will once again bring residents together around the popular ball, the torchlight procession, and the grand fireworks display on the Seine. The town continues its festive republican tradition with a rich program combining cultural, gastronomic, and pyrotechnic activities.
