2025 Edition — Hip Hop in the Heart of Avignon's Spring

The 2025 edition of Hip Hop en Avignon took place on April 25, 26, and 27 across several stages in the city, transforming Avignon into the Provençal capital of urban cultures for three days.

Dance Battles

At the heart of the program, the dance battles brought together crews from all over France and several European countries. The disciplines represented covered the entire hip hop spectrum: breaking (or b-boying), popping, locking, new style, choreographed hip hop, and the contemporary hybrid forms that stem from them. The finals, held on the main stage at Place de l'Horloge, attracted thousands of spectators and created an electrifying atmosphere at the foot of Avignon's medieval ramparts.

Concerts and Musical Performances

The musical lineup for the 2025 edition featured a mix of established rappers and emerging talents, reflecting the diversity of the contemporary French hip hop scene. Artists from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region notably had the honor of opening the concerts on the main stage, demonstrating the vitality of the local scene that the festival helps to highlight.

DJ sessions punctuated the evenings, turning the Place de l'Horloge and the inner courtyards into an open-air dance floor, true to the original spirit of hip hop as a festive and community culture.

Graffiti and Visual Arts

Street art artists created live murals throughout the festival, transforming walls and dedicated surfaces into ephemeral galleries. These site-specific creations highlighted the dialogue between contemporary urban arts and Avignon's architectural heritage, illustrating the festival's fundamental mission.

Workshops and Educational Activities

In the lead-up to and during the festival, free introductory workshops on breaking, rap, beatbox, and graffiti were offered to young people in schools and youth centers in Vaucluse. These outreach activities, led by guest artists, reached several hundred young people and strengthened the festival's popular roots in Avignonese life.
