Jazz in Avignon

2025 Edition — Jazz in Avignon, October 15-19

The 2025 edition of Jazz in Avignon took place from October 15 to 19, animating concert halls and heritage spaces in Avignon for five evenings. Around fifteen ensembles and artists, from France and several European countries, shared their passion for jazz and improvisation with the Avignon public.

A Rich and Diverse Program

The 2025 program covered a wide spectrum of contemporary jazz music. The concerts at AJMI, an intimate and warm venue, hosted small-format ensembles—trios, quartets, duos—in an atmosphere conducive to listening and exchange. The Opéra Grand Avignon opened its doors for the closing evening, featuring a larger ensemble that allowed a large audience to gather in a grand setting.

The genres represented ranged from mainstream jazz to contemporary fusion, with particular attention paid to artists who renew jazz by blending it with other musical traditions: Mediterranean music, soul, electronic. This eclectic and open approach is characteristic of the festival's artistic direction since its inception.

Educational Activities

In parallel with the concerts, improvisation workshops were offered to students from the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d'Avignon and several music schools in Vaucluse. Guest musicians at the festival led these work sessions, sharing their experience of improvisation and their vision of jazz as a living and constantly renewing culture with the young musicians.

An Autumn Edition in the Colors of Provence

The autumn atmosphere of Avignon, with its golden light, quiet streets, and cool evenings, contributed to the special and warm ambiance of the 2025 edition. Year after year, Jazz en Avignon confirms its role as an intimate and demanding festival, where the quality of listening and the proximity between artists and the public are fundamental values.
