Les Estivales de Moissac 2025 — A Four-Month Summer Season
The summer of 2025 was rich in cultural life in Moissac. From June to the end of September, the Estivales 2025 offered an eclectic and ambitious program that made the heart of the abbey city beat throughout the warm season, transforming its squares, esplanades, and monuments into stages for a quality musical, gastronomic, and heritage program.
The most anticipated moment of the 2025 season was, as every year, the mapping on the Saint-Pierre Abbey Church. From July 25 to August 17, 2025, the facade of this masterpiece of Romanesque art — inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list — came alive each evening at nightfall under a digital creation projected onto its ancient stone. The dialogue between the medieval sculptures of the tympanum (Christ in Majesty surrounded by the symbols of the Evangelists) and the luminous and colorful images of the projection created a nocturnal spectacle of rare beauty and emotional power, attracting hundreds of spectators each evening to the abbey forecourt.
The concerts under the plane trees punctuated the entire season, with an eclectic program combining jazz, blues, world music, variety, and Occitan music in the city's open-air spaces. The Esplanade du Moulin, by the Tarn river, hosted the main concerts in an exceptional natural and architectural setting.
The Orchestre de Chambre de Toulouse gave its annual concerts in Moissac's heritage sites — the abbey cloister and the abbey church — offering an evening of exceptional classical music in a unique Romanesque setting. These concerts, partially ticketed, were sell-outs.
The gourmet night markets regularly brought together local producers and visitors for evenings of tasting and conviviality: Chasselas AOP, summer peaches and plums, Fronton wines, and Gascon sweets made up the stalls of these markets, popular with locals and tourists alike.
