Edition 2025 — Journées de l'Orgue

The 2025 edition of the Journées de l'Orgue took place from August 5th to 7th at the Saint-Robert Abbey Church on the theme "Chaconnes, Gigues, and Other Dances: From Profane to Sacred Music". Three recitals explored how baroque and classical composers, from Pierre Attaignant to Jean-Sébastien Bach, including François Couperin and Nicolas de Grigny, integrated popular dance forms and operatic structures into sacred organ music.

2025 Edition — Chaconnes, Gigues, and Other Dances

The 2025 Journées de l'Orgue explored the fascinating theme of "genre mixing": how secular music — popular dances, opera arias, choreographic forms — nourished and enriched sacred organ music. The full theme, "Chaconnes, Gigues, and Other Dances: From Profane to Sacred Music", guided three evenings of recitals highlighting this fertile permeability between the sacred and the secular.

Recital Program

  • Tuesday, August 5th at 6:30 PM: Recital by Su One Park and Eun-Shik Kim
  • Wednesday, August 6th at 6:30 PM: Recital by Matthieu Boutineau
  • Thursday, August 7th at 6:30 PM: Recital by Frédéric Deschamps

The programs featured works by Pierre Attaignant, François Couperin, Nicolas de Grigny, and Jean-Sébastien Bach, revealing how these composers transcended the boundaries between court music and church music.

A Restored Organ

This 2025 edition also allowed attendees to discover the organ after the significant restoration work carried out in 2024, which included a complete overhaul of the wind system and mechanical adjustments, preserving the 18th-century harmonic character while improving the instrument's playability.
