Edition 2026 — Marathon Médiéval
The first edition of the Seine-et-Marne Medieval Marathon was held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, with a weekend of activities from May 9 to 10 between Blandy-lès-Tours and Provins. Launched by the Seine-et-Marne Department under the patronage of Lorànt Deutsch, this first edition gathered over 3,600 registered runners across the five formats offered (marathon, Tours half-marathon, relay marathon, 5 km Knights and Princesses, youth races). The relay marathon was sold out before the race.
1st Edition — Sunday, May 10, 2026
Sunday, May 10, 2026, marked the launch of the Seine-et-Marne Medieval Marathon, the first edition of an annual event conceived by the Department. Runners set off from Place des Tours, in front of Blandy-lès-Tours castle, for a 42.195 km course through the Brie countryside to the medieval city of Provins, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The course crossed nine communes and passed four major medieval sites: Blandy castle, Champeaux collegiate church, Cucharmoy church, and the Gallo-Roman theater of Châteaubleau. The arrival through Provins' Saint-Jean gate offered runners a spectacular finish at the foot of the ramparts.
Record Mobilization for a First Edition
In total, over 3,600 people participated in the various races over the weekend. Five formats were offered: marathon (42.195 km), Tours half-marathon (21.0975 km loop around Blandy), relay marathon (teams of 3 to 6 runners over 6 sections — sold out before the race), 5 km Knights and Princesses (non-timed festive race for teens and adults, organized on Saturday in Blandy and Sunday in Provins, costumes encouraged) and youth races (400 m / 850 m / 1,500 m depending on age, free). 200 volunteers were mobilized along the course, with 4 water stations and 3 full refreshment points highlighting local produce.
Medieval Entertainment on Both Sites
The weekend of May 9-10 featured medieval shows and music, producers' and artisans' markets, equestrian performances, fantastic parades, and immersive workshops (medieval hairstyling, tastings…). The patron of this first edition was Lorànt Deutsch, a writer and actor passionate about history.
