Festive fair with bandas and Landes races in Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes
May'Feria is a fair organized in Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes and Évron, in Mayenne, by the festival committee and the Banda'Suzanne association. For two days, this unique event in the department transports Mayenne to the heart of the traditions of the Southwest: a bodega evening in red and white, banda concerts with nearly a hundred musicians, Landes races in a temporary arena, artisanal market, and flea market. May'Feria celebrates the festive and friendly spirit of férias.
May'Feria is a unique festive event in Mayenne, transplanting the atmosphere of the Southwest férias into the medieval setting of Sainte-Suzanne-et-Chammes, one of the most beautiful villages in France. Supported by the Chammes festival committee and the Banda'Suzanne association, May'Feria offers two days of colorful festivities.
The highlight of May'Feria is the grand bodega evening, where the public is invited to wear red and white, as in the great férias of Bayonne or Dax:
Among the bandas that have participated: Sans Soucis de Bordeaux (multiple French and European champions), Couak'Onjoue de Neuil-les-Aubiers, the Orchestre Banda, and of course Banda'Suzanne, the local banda.
May'Feria is one of the few events in Western France to offer Landes races in a temporary arena. Ecarteurs (dodgers) and sauteurs (jumpers) face Landes cows in a spectacle of bravery and agility. The public is even invited to enter the arena for taurine games open to all.
The cows are specially transported from the Landes region, a significant investment that makes this event exceptional.
Sunday is dedicated to daytime entertainment:
