Edition 2025 — Luberon Potters Market
The Luberon Potters and Fine Crafts Market 2025 brought together ceramists, potters, glassblowers, jewelers, and fine craftspeople in the historic center of Apt. Two days of discovery of contemporary artisanal creation, with live demonstrations, workshops for children, and sales of creations by selected artisans.
2025 Edition — Artisanal Creation Celebrated in Apt
The Luberon Potters and Fine Crafts Market 2025 took over the Place du Septier and adjacent streets of Apt's historic center on July 19th and 20th for two days of intense creativity. Around forty selected artisans—ceramists, potters, glassblowers, jewelers, weavers, wood sculptors—presented their creations in a festive and curious atmosphere.
The ceramics and pottery sector was particularly rich: wheel-thrown potters offering utilitarian pieces with clean lines coexisted with ceramic sculptors whose installations explored the relationship between material and space. Several artisans worked with local clays and pigments—notably the ochres from Roussillon and Rustrel—giving their pieces warm, earthy colors perfectly in tune with the Luberon light.
Live throwing demonstrations drew large crowds around the potter's wheels set up outdoors. Watching the potter's hands shape the clay, guide the form, smooth the walls—this ancient magic still fascinates, both children and adults. Workshops for young people allowed dozens of children to try hand-modeling under the guidance of patient artisans, leaving with their dried creations to decorate at home.
Discussions with the artisans were one of the market's highlights: the creators, happy to talk about their work, explained their techniques, their sources of inspiration, their raw materials. Several mentioned the landscape and light of the Luberon as direct sources of inspiration—the colors of the rocks, the nuances of the lavender fields, the shadows of the olive trees.
