Mozart Forever is the Auditorium de Lyon's major spring event dedicated to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. For nearly two weeks, this concert series offers a complete immersion into the prodigy's work from Salzburg, through all the genres he masterfully practiced: symphony, opera, chamber music, and keyboard music.
The program highlights Mozart's three last symphonies, including the famous Jupiter, conducted by musical director Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider. The festival's highlight: Don Giovanni, one of the most fascinating operas in music history, presented in concert version. The series also includes chamber music concerts by ONL musicians exploring the works of Wolfgang, Leopold, and Franz Xaver Mozart, as well as an organ recital and programs crossing Mozart with his contemporaries.
With over 600 works composed in all musical genres in just 35 years of life, Mozart remains one of the most performed and loved composers in the world. The Mozart Forever festival offers a rare opportunity to explore this immense output in one of France's most beautiful concert halls, served by an orchestra of 104 permanent musicians and soloists of international stature.
Inaugurated in 1975, the Auditorium de Lyon offers exceptional acoustics in its large hall with 2,100 seats. The festival also uses the Salle Molière for chamber music concerts, creating a more intimate atmosphere conducive to salon works. Together, they form a coherent and captivating musical journey, accessible to music lovers and the curious alike.
