About Music Festival in Saint-Joseph
Every June 21, Saint-Joseph, in the south of La Réunion, celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, local groups, and professional artists play for free in the city center and under the Halle François Mitterrand. Organized by the City of Saint-Joseph, the day is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Saint-Joseph
As everywhere in France and La Réunion since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Saint-Joseph into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely invades public spaces, from early evening until late at night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A festival in the heart of the city center
Usually, the festival is concentrated in the city center of Saint-Joseph, with a main stage set up under the Halle François Mitterrand, complemented by concerts from bars, associations, and music schools. Maloya, séga, variety, contemporary music, and world music coexist there for an evening.
