Edition 2025 — Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon
24th edition of the Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon festival. From August 15 to 27, 2025, twelve concerts between Haut-Lignon and Val'Eyrieux: four major evening concerts with Le Concert de l'Hostel-Dieu, La Camera delle Lacrime, the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the Ensemble Double Face, and Thomas Leleu, and eight free "An Hour With" discovery sessions in the villages of the plateau.
24th Edition — August 15 to 27, 2025
The 24th edition of the Musiques en Vivarais-Lignon festival took place from August 15 to 27, 2025, in the churches, temples, and village halls of the Vivarais-Lignon plateau, between Haute-Loire and Ardèche. Twelve concerts marked these two weeks of music, between major evening events and intimate afternoon discovery sessions.
The Four Major Concerts
The festival opened with an inaugural concert on Friday, August 15 at 6 p.m. at the Mars temple, featuring the Duo Lyra (harp and mandolin). On Saturday, August 16 at 9 p.m., virtuoso tubist Thomas Leleu presented his show "Outsider" at the Calibert of Mazet-Saint-Voy, an audacious performance blending tuba and electronics.
On Wednesday, August 20, the Ensemble Double Face performed "Les 2 Franz" at the church of Saint-Agrève, a program dedicated to Schubert and Lachner. The highlight of this edition was undoubtedly the concert on Saturday, August 23 at the church of Chambon-sur-Lignon, with the premiere of "Stabat Mater, from the Middle Ages to Vivaldi" bringing together two major ensembles from the baroque scene: Le Concert de l'Hostel-Dieu (Lyon) directed by Franck-Emmanuel Comte and La Camera delle Lacrime (Clermont-Ferrand) with tenor Bruno Bonhoure. The festival audience had the privilege of this preview before its performance at the Opéra de Clermont-Ferrand and other major French stages.
The festival concluded on Wednesday, August 27 at 9 p.m. in the Saint-Martin church of Tence with the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, performing Schubert's String Quintet in C major and Anton Webern's Langsamer Satz.
"An Hour With" Discovery Sessions
Eight free concerts at 6 p.m. allowed the audience to discover various artists and repertoires in the intimacy of the plateau villages: the Duo Arpegi in Jaunac, the Trio Patchword in Rochepaule (August 18), the Ensemble Myras in Saint-Jeure-d'Andaure (August 19), the festival choirs in Chenereilles (August 21), the show "Clarisse ou La Mémoire du Blanc" in Le Mas-de-Tence (August 22), a Balkan concert in Saint-Jeures (August 24), and the Duo Esquinas (accordion and guitar, Brazilian and swing musette repertoire) in Devesset (August 26).
Choral Singing Workshop
A choral singing workshop was held from August 17 to 21, focusing on French romantic composers—Offenbach and Saint-Saëns—and culminating in a performance on August 21 in Chenereilles.
