Edition 2025 — Rencontres Musicales de Bonnieux
The Rencontres Musicales de Bonnieux 2025 offered a series of classical and chamber music concerts in the 12th-century Romanesque high church and the village's heritage sites. Quality performers — soloists and chamber ensembles — enlivened the summer evenings of this Most Beautiful Village in France in the Luberon.
2025 Edition — Classical Music in Romanesque Stones
The Rencontres Musicales de Bonnieux 2025 unfolded its program in the exceptional setting of the 12th-century high church and the heritage sites of the hilltop village. From early July to mid-August, high-quality concerts offered music lovers in the region and visitors to the Luberon memorable musical evenings.
The baroque ensemble invited for the opening concert immediately set the standard of excellence: a soulful and luminous interpretation of Bach's sonatas and partitas by a high-quality string quartet, in the natural acoustics of the Romanesque nave, created a moment of pure grace. The audience, numerous despite the limited capacity of the church, gave the musicians a well-deserved ovation.
Solo piano recitals, chamber music concerts — duos, trios — and an open-air concert on the high square with a view of the Luberon completed the 2025 program. The repertoire was varied and well-chosen, balancing major works from the repertoire (Schubert, Brahms, Debussy) with less frequently performed discoveries (Fauré, d'Indy, 19th-century Provençal composers).
The atmosphere of the concerts in Bonnieux is special: the audience, often coming from afar for this event, meets friends and shares the pre-concert time in the village cafes and restaurants, then converges towards the high church in the gentle evening air. After the concerts, the terraces come alive again, extending the musical evening in a spirit of Provençal conviviality.
