Edition 2025 — Cow and Cheese Day
The Cow and Cheese Day returns to Salers on the first Wednesday of August 2025. On the program: parade of the finest Salers cows through the village streets, producers' market, demonstration of Salers cheese making, and rustic aligot meal.
Cow and Cheese Day 2025
On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, the medieval village of Salers hosts its traditional Cow and Cheese Day, organized by the Comice Agricole du Canton de Salers.
On the program for this festive day: the parade of the finest Salers cows through the cobbled streets of the village, a local producers' market in the school group courtyard, a demonstration of Salers cheese making by the Coopérative Laitière de Saint-Bonnet-de-Salers, and the traditional rustic meal with Salers beef and aligot on the esplanade de la Barrouze.
Programme
Provisional Program 2025
- 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.: Market of local producers and artisans in the school group courtyard
- 11 a.m.: Arrival and preparation of animals
- 11:30 a.m.: First parade of Salers cows through the village streets
- 12:30 p.m.: Food on the esplanade de la Barrouze (Salers burger, ice cream)
- 4 p.m.: Second parade of Salers cows through the village streets
- 5:15 p.m.: Demonstration of Salers cheese making by the Coopérative Laitière de Saint-Bonnet-de-Salers
- 7:30 p.m.: Rustic meal: cured meats, Salers beef with aligot, cheeses, tarts
