About Salon Gastronomie Le Coteau

Created in 1984 by the "Comité des Fêtes de la Ville du Coteau", the Salon de la Gastronomie has become an unmissable autumn event in Roannais. Every year, on the third weekend of November, around a hundred exhibitors from all over France take over Le Scarabée in Riorges to offer the best of their production and know-how: foie gras, Savoyard charcuterie, cheeses, wines and champagnes, craft beers, confectionery, macarons, walnut-based products, truffles, saffron, honey, olive oils, and many other regional specialties. Jointly organized by the "Comité des Fêtes" and the "Ville du Coteau", the salon highlights the terroirs of French regions through tastings, culinary demonstrations, and a pastry competition open to the general public. Friendly tasting areas, a tasting glass available at the entrance, and a free shuttle from Place Aucey in Le Coteau complete the offer to welcome over 8,000 visitors for a festive and gourmet weekend, ideal for preparing for the end-of-year holidays.

The Salon de la Gastronomie du Coteau: over 40 years of gourmet tradition

Since 1984, the Salon de la Gastronomie du Coteau has been an essential event for lovers of good food in Roannais and beyond. Organized every year on the third weekend of November by the Comité des Fêtes and the Ville du Coteau, this salon brings together around a hundred exhibitors from all over France at the Scarabée in Riorges, a modular hall that can accommodate several thousand visitors.

A tour of France of flavors

The salon offers a true tour of France of gastronomic terroirs and know-how. Visitors discover a wide variety of products: foie gras, Savoyard charcuterie, farm cheeses, wines and champagnes, craft beers, confectionery, artisanal macarons, walnut-based products, truffles, saffron, honey, olive oils, filled shortbread, and many other regional specialties. Approximately one-third of the exhibitors come from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, while the others represent different French regions, thus offering a particularly rich palette of flavors.

Events and competitions

Beyond the tasting and sales stands, the salon offers culinary demonstrations and meetings with passionate producers throughout the weekend. Among the highlights, a pastry competition open to the general public invites participants to present the best and most beautiful cake. Special categories are reserved for apprentices from the CFA and participants from leisure centers. Several tasting areas allow for convivial moments to be shared with friends or family.

An accessible and friendly event

To facilitate access to the salon, a free shuttle service is provided from Place Aucey in Le Coteau to Le Scarabée. Tasting glasses are offered at the entrance for €1.50, allowing visitors to fully enjoy the tastings offered by the exhibitors. The salon welcomes over 8,000 visitors each year, making it the largest gastronomic fair in Roannais.
