Hossegor Book Fair 2026 — 28th Edition

The 28th edition of the Soorts-Hossegor Book Fair will be held from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, in Hossegor city center. This new edition continues the tradition of the fair created in 1999 and remains faithful to its editorial line: "biography and History", a common thread that has permeated conferences, round tables, and meetings with authors for over twenty-five years.

A Theme: Posthumous Reunions

The theme chosen for the 2026 short story competition is "The moment is also conducive to posthumous reunions", a quote from Farid Ameur's biography Lincoln, winner of the Hossegor City Biography Prize 2025. This theme will inform all the meetings and conferences of the fair, which will, as every year, bring together authors, biographers, and historians to meet the public from the Landes region.

The Fair's Format

The fair takes over the city center for three days: conferences and round tables are held at the City Hall, while the stands of regional publishers and booksellers are set up on the Place de la Concorde, which will be closed to traffic for the occasion. Book signing sessions are held continuously at the stands. The program also includes music, a manga workshop, and activities for young audiences.

Hossegor Literary Prizes

As with each edition, three distinctions will be awarded:

• The Hossegor City Biography Prize (1,500 €), selected by a jury of volunteer readers who meet from September to May.
• The Short Story Prize (500 €), rewarding an unpublished short story written on the imposed theme; the winning text is published in Côté Landes magazine, with a circulation of 20,000 copies.
• The Young Readers' Historical Comic Book Prize, awarded by a jury of over 75 students from four schools.
