Tunis sur Seine: The Alternative Arab Scene at the Heart of the 93
Tunis sur Seine was born from a simple and strong desire: to give a stage, in France, to contemporary Arab music that doesn't find its place in the usual distribution channels. Maghreb pop, Arab hip-hop, Tunisian R&B, indie pop, neo-soul — these genres are carried by a new generation of talented artists, often from the diaspora, who are reinventing Arab music through their multiple influences.
By choosing Aubervilliers as the host city, the organizers found a territory that perfectly resonated with their project. The commune is home to a significant and vibrant Maghrebi and Tunisian community, which actively participates in the festival. The event thus goes beyond its artistic dimension to become a moment of identity pride and encounter.
The Point Fort d'Aubervilliers: A Place Steeped in History
The Point Fort d'Aubervilliers is an exceptional historical site: a former 19th-century military fort converted into a cultural and natural space. Its vast green areas, imposing walls, and unique atmosphere offer a singular setting for hosting the festival. Each edition, the site transforms into a festive and colorful village, hosting concerts, a market, and activities for several hours.
An Audacious Musical Program
The programming of Tunis sur Seine is distinguished by its ability to mix established artists and emerging voices, the Tunisian scene and the Maghrebi diaspora in France:
- Si Lemhaf — reinvented Maghrebi song, enchanting voice
- DJAM & TiMoh — Arab hip-hop duo with sharp flows
- Dhalma — indie pop in Arabic, melancholic and modern
- ODA — Arab electro-pop, avant-garde productions
- Nejia — Tunisian neo-soul, groove and depth
- Tamman — engaged Tunisian rap, slam and spoken word
The 5th edition (2025) featured ten concerts in a single evening at the Point Fort, confirming the growing momentum of a booming alternative Arab scene.
A Cultural and Gastronomic Village
Beyond the concerts, Tunis sur Seine also offers:
- A market of passionate creators: jewelry, fashion, crafts, contemporary art with Maghrebi influences
- Food trucks with flavors from Tunisia and the Maghreb: brik, couscous, merguez, oriental pastries, mint tea
- Workshops for all ages: oriental dance, henna, Arabic calligraphy
- A winter edition: in December, the Tunis-sur-Seine Ecopark offers an intimate version of the festival at the Point Fort
