AGADOP 2026 Season — Puisaye in Culture
In 2026, AGADOP continues its cultural dissemination mission in Puisaye, with a season of about ten events spread throughout the year. Theater, concerts, readings, shows for young audiences, and exhibitions follow one another in the spaces of the Charny Orée-de-Puisaye territory, offering the residents of Puisaye regular and high-quality access to the performing arts.
The 2026 program will be unveiled progressively on the association's website (www.agadop.fr) and its social media channels in Puisaye. Each event is an opportunity for an encounter between artists and the public in places rich in history and conviviality, just a stone's throw from the ponds and forests of Puisaye in the Yonne department.

AGADOP: Live Culture in the Heart of Rural Puisaye
Puisaye is a land of hedgerows, ponds, and forests at the crossroads of the Yonne, Loiret, and Nièvre departments. The land of novelist Colette, who was born there in 1873 in Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye, this distinctive territory combines natural richness and historical heritage, notably with the castles of Saint-Fargeau and Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, its numerous ponds, and its villages with blond sandstone houses.
It is in this setting that the association AGADOP — Friends of the Grange aux Dîmes d'Orée de Puisaye has been developing an ambitious cultural season for several years, with the aim of contributing to the cultural landscape of Charny Orée-de-Puisaye by organizing an artistic event approximately once a month. Facing the challenges of cultural desertification affecting many rural areas, AGADOP is committed to local, accessible, and quality culture, directly in the villages of Puisaye.
AGADOP's Mission
Founded by Jean-Marie Lecoq, the AGADOP association has set itself several objectives:
- Promote artistic creation in the performing arts — theater, concerts, readings, shows, exhibitions, and workshops.
- Make works and performances accessible in the rural territory of Puisaye, by reaching out to the inhabitants of the villages rather than forcing them to travel to large cities.
- Strengthen social bonds and community life through volunteering and the active participation of residents in the cultural project.
- Develop the attractiveness of a rural territory spread across several villages, making culture a factor of vitality and influence.
A Monthly Cultural Season in a Rural Setting
AGADOP's originality lies in offering a regular program, approximately once a month, throughout the year. This sustained pace — exceptional for a small rural association — demonstrates the commitment of its volunteers and their determination to keep culture alive in deep Puisaye.
AGADOP's programming is intentionally multidisciplinary:
- Theater: classical and contemporary repertoire plays, staged by regional or national companies, in adapted spaces in Puisaye.
- Concerts: classical music, jazz, world music, folk, and French chanson — quality ensembles invited to perform in unusual and warm settings.
- Readings and literary performances: vocal interpretations of poetic or novelistic texts, meetings with authors, readings-debates.
- Young audience shows: puppets, object theater, storytelling, and musical performances designed for families and schools.
- Exhibitions: visual arts, photography, illustration — local and regional artists find a platform in the association's spaces.
- Workshops: artistic practices open to residents — writing, amateur theater, music — encouraging public involvement in local cultural life.
Puisaye's Venues as Stages
AGADOP utilizes available spaces in the Charny Orée-de-Puisaye territory: community halls, converted barns, chapels, farmyards, natural spaces. These unusual venues, rich in history and character, give the performances a special flavor. The Grange aux Dîmes, which gives the association its name, is one of these emblematic Puisaye spaces — a medieval agricultural building converted into a cultural venue.
A Network of Committed Volunteers
AGADOP is above all a human adventure. Its volunteers — residents of Puisaye convinced that culture in rural areas is a necessity — dedicate their time and energy to programming, logistics, communication, and welcoming the public. Their selfless commitment is what makes it possible for a cultural season of this quality to exist in such a rural territory.
