The Advent artisanal market at the Domont Town Hall Park
Domont is a commune in the Val-d'Oise located on the agricultural plateau stretching north of the Montmorency Valley. Once a village, it has become a residential commune, yet it has preserved its village character and quality of life, with its green spaces, sports facilities, and active community associations. In December, the Parc de la Mairie transforms into a charming Christmas village, welcoming artisans, producers, and residents for a few days of celebration and sharing.
The Domont Christmas market brings together in its wooden chalets a selection of artisans and creators representative of the region's artisanal richness. You can find handmade jewelry — resin, silver, copper jewelry —, decorative objects — lanterns, Advent wreaths, wooden mobiles —, natural soaps and cosmetics made with plants and essential oils. Local producers offer wildflower honey, artisanal jams, salted butter caramels, chocolate bars, and other cold-season treats. Hot drink stands — spiced mulled wine, homemade hot chocolate, hot apple juice — welcome visitors in a cloud of fragrant steam.
The community associations of Domont play an essential role in the organization and animation of the Christmas market. Parent-teacher associations, cultural groups, sports clubs, and solidarity associations participate in the event by offering products made by their members — homemade cakes, artisanal decorations, recovered and transformed objects. These association stands, whose proceeds fund local projects or school trips, give the market a dimension of solidarity and civic engagement, making it much more than just a commercial market.
The entertainment program for the Domont Christmas market is designed to create lasting memories for the whole family. Local musical groups — choirs, youth orchestras, traditional music ensembles — perform concerts in the park, offering a festive and varied soundtrack to visitors. Puppet shows and theatrical entertainment for children take place in the late afternoon in a specially designated area. Santa Claus, set up in a beautifully decorated chalet, receives children for souvenir photos and to collect their wish letters, in a friendly space where parents and children share a magical moment.
The Domont plateau offers clear and remarkable panoramas of the Plaine de France and the wooded hills of the Val-d'Oise. In December, sunrises and sunsets create skies of particular beauty above the plateau, which walkers and strollers can admire during a pre- or post-market hike. The Domont forest, bordering the commune on its eastern edge, offers marked walking trails for the whole family. The proximity of the Montmorency forest to the south opens up other possibilities for forest exploration.
