Éragny-sur-Oise Celebrates Christmas

Éragny-sur-Oise is a town in the Cergy-Pontoise urban community located on the banks of the Oise River, downstream from Pontoise and upstream from Cergy. This recently created new town, built in the 1970s on the agricultural lands of the Val d'Oise plain, is now a dynamic residential commune with a rich cultural and associative life. Every December, the Salle des Calandres hosts the town's artisanal Christmas market, which has become an anticipated event for the entire community over the years.

Artisan and Producer Exhibitors

The Éragny Christmas Market brings together a selection of artisans, creators, and producers at the Salle des Calandres and its surroundings, offering their creations and specialties for the holidays. Artisan creators present handmade jewelry, artisanal ceramics, decorative objects, original paintings, embroidered textiles, and leather creations. Local producers offer their specialties: honey from Île-de-France, homemade jams, fine chocolates, Christmas spice cookies, soft gingerbread, and fine foods from Val d'Oise. A section is dedicated to local associations offering items made by their members to support solidarity projects.

Christmas Choirs

One of the unique features of the Éragny Christmas Market is the space dedicated to choirs and vocal groups. Local vocal ensembles—adult choirs, children's choirs from the town's schools, gospel ensembles—perform concerts on the stage set up in the hall or outdoors, offering a festive repertoire of French and international Christmas carols. These concerts contribute to creating a warm and moving sound atmosphere that gives the Éragny market its special identity. Admission to the concerts is free for all market visitors.

The Little Train, Food Trucks, and Santa Claus

The Éragny market is not limited to artisanal stalls. A Christmas train circles the site for the children's delight, creating enchanting routes between the chalets and activities. Selected food trucks offering quality specialties provide warm and varied catering: artisanal soups, comforting regional dishes, sweet and savory crepes, waffles, and donuts. Santa Claus, in his traditional red and white costume, meets children in his dedicated area for souvenir photos and magical moments that bring joy to families.

The Cergy-Pontoise urban community offers a particularly rich festive program in December thanks to the multiplicity of Christmas markets organized by each of its member towns. Cergy, Pontoise, Vauréal, Osny, and Éragny each offer their own activities, creating a true festive circuit for the residents of the agglomeration. This emulation between neighboring towns benefits all residents who can choose the markets that best suit them according to their availability and preferences.

Éragny and the Oise River

The banks of the Oise River in Éragny offer pleasant walks along the river in all seasons. In December, the towpaths are ideal for invigorating walks in the fresh winter air, with views of the river and the wooded hillsides on the opposite bank. The Cergy-Pontoise leisure center, accessible a few kilometers from Éragny, even offers various outdoor activities in winter for active families wishing to combine their market visit with a sports or leisure activity.
