Herblay-sur-Seine: A hillside town in festive attire

Herblay-sur-Seine is a town in the Val-d'Oise region, nestled on the hillsides overlooking the Seine between Argenteuil and Pontoise. With its sloping streets, characterful houses, and sweeping views of the Seine loop, it is one of the most charming towns in the department. The town recently adopted the name Herblay-sur-Seine to highlight its connection to the river. Every December, the Parc de la Mairie and the Place de la Libération transform into an enchanting Christmas village, welcoming artisans, producers, and families for three days of festivities.

A Christmas village across park and square

The Herblay-sur-Seine Christmas Village spans two complementary locations: the Parc de la Mairie, a lush green space in the heart of the town center, and the Place de la Libération, a lively shopping hub. This dual-site layout creates two distinct yet complementary atmospheres: the natural, romantic setting of the park for artisan chalets, and the bustling square for musical performances and street entertainment. The wooden chalets showcase handcrafted creations, including jewelry, home decor, fashion accessories, ceramics, and pottery.

A gourmet selection

Gourmet treats play a starring role at the Herblay-sur-Seine Christmas Village. The market is reserved for merchants, artisans, and individuals showcasing festive products—ranging from gastronomy and decorations to crafts and gift ideas. Producers and cheesemongers offer seasonal delicacies, perfect for stocking up for holiday feasts or assembling gift baskets.

Three days of festive fun

The Herblay-sur-Seine Christmas Village runs for three consecutive days—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday—giving everyone the chance to visit at their convenience. A dining area is available for lunch or dinner on-site, and entertainment keeps the energy high throughout the three days, all set against a backdrop of festive decorations and evening illuminations. The full schedule of events and musical performances is released by the City of Herblay-sur-Seine as the market approaches.

Santa Claus in person

Meeting Santa Claus is one of the highlights of the Herblay-sur-Seine Christmas Village. The jolly old man is present throughout the market, welcoming children in a beautifully decorated space, taking the time to chat with each one and listen to their wishes. These special moments create unforgettable memories for children, adding to the magic of Christmas. Meeting Santa is completely free of charge.

Herblay and the banks of the Seine

The hillsides and riverbanks of Herblay-sur-Seine offer stunning panoramas in every season. In December, the morning mist rising from the river, the low winter sun, and the purple twilight skies create a uniquely poetic scene. A stroll along the banks before or after visiting the market is the perfect way to fully appreciate this exceptional natural setting. The hillside road, which winds through former market gardens, offers remarkable views of the Seine loop and the surrounding riverside towns.
