The largest photography exhibition in Eastern France
Founded in 1988 by the Photo Club de Riedisheim and the Peugeot-Citroën Mulhouse Cultural and Sports Association, the Riedisheim International Photography Exhibition has become over the decades the largest exhibition dedicated to photography in Eastern France. Every spring, the L'Aronde cultural center hosts for ten days the works selected from the international competition, exhibitions by invited photographers, and a camera fair. Sponsored by FIAP and FPF, this volunteer-run exhibition attracts participants from about fifty countries.
Since its creation in 1988, the Riedisheim International Photography Exhibition (SPR) has continuously grown to become the largest photography exhibition in Eastern France, entirely organized by passionate volunteers. Born from the desire of a group of friends from the Photo Club de Riedisheim and the Peugeot-Citroën Mulhouse Cultural and Sports Association, the exhibition set out from the beginning with the ambition to offer a major photographic event, focused on the quality of the works and the exchange between photographers from around the world.
The heart of the Riedisheim Photo Exhibition is its international competition, distributed in about fifty countries and under the patronage of the FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Art) and the FPF (Photographic Federation of France). Each year, hundreds of photographers from around the world submit their works, evaluated by an international jury composed of three judges of different nationalities. The exhibition's printed catalog received a five-star rating from FIAP's patronage services, attesting to the exceptional quality of the event.
The Riedisheim Exhibition stands out for its commitment to humanistic and engaged photography, placing the human being at the center of creation. The preferred themes — "Man at Work," "Creative Photography," "Humanistic and Socially Engaged Photography" — invite photographers to take a sensitive and profound look at the world. This artistic and ethical requirement gives the exhibition a strong identity, recognized on the international photographic scene.
For about ten days in the spring, the L'Aronde cultural center in Riedisheim hosts the exhibition's displays: the award-winning and selected works from the international competition, the works of invited photographers — about ten artists selected from nearly two hundred applications — and the exhibitions of the jury members. Visitors can discover several hundred photographs in a well-maintained and accessible setting, conducive to contemplation and exchange.
Each edition of the exhibition features a camera fair on Sundays, where collectors and enthusiasts can find old cameras, vintage lenses, used equipment, and specialized books. This market attracts a loyal audience, happy to find rare items and share their passion for analog and digital photography. The fair is a friendly and popular event, perfectly complementing the artistic dimension of the exhibition.
The 39th edition of the Riedisheim International Photography Exhibition will be held from April 10 to 19, 2026, at the L'Aronde cultural center. The preferred theme of this edition is "humanistic and socially engaged photography," accompanied by "creative photography." The international jury will include Thibaut Froehly (France), Philippe Rikir (Belgium), and Roland Steffen (Switzerland).
