A Dive into the Heart of the Middle Ages
Every summer, the Château de Bourdeilles opens its doors for a weekend of medieval celebration. The castle, which combines a 13th-century keep and a Renaissance manor, offers an authentic historical setting to relive the atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
Activities and Shows
Les Médiévales offer a rich program:
- Medieval Market: bronze jewelry, engraved leather belts, scented elixirs, ash soaps, and rare spice blends.
- Camps and Combat: reconstruction of medieval camps, sword fighting demonstrations, and ancient fencing.
- Shows: dance, theater, medieval and Renaissance music, troubadours, and jesters.
- Craftsmanship: demonstrations and workshops of medieval trades.
Feasting and Merriment
A medieval catering inspired by ancient recipes is offered in a festive atmosphere, enlivened by troubadours and traveling artists. The festival entrance ticket includes the visit of the castle.
Médiévales de Bourdeilles — edition 2026
The Bourdeilles Medieval Festival returns on July 25th and 26th, 2026, to the Château de Bourdeilles, in Périgord Vert, for a weekend of medieval festivities (10 am-7 pm both days). Knights, noble ladies, minstrels, and artisans bring the atmosphere of the Middle Ages back to life within the castle grounds.
The Bourdeilles Medieval Festival 2026
On July 25th and 26th, 2026, the Château de Bourdeilles will plunge back into the medieval era for a weekend. From 10 am to 7 pm, the castle and its grounds will host an artisan market, demonstrations and workshops of ancient crafts, medieval encampments and battles, costumed companies, period games, artistic fencing, as well as medieval and Renaissance dance, theatre, and music.
Food and a refreshment stand are available on site. The entrance ticket includes a visit to the castle, with its 13th-century octagonal keep and its Renaissance dwelling.

The festival takes place at the Château de Bourdeilles (24310), about 25 km north of Périgueux.
- By car: From Périgueux, take the D939 towards Brantôme, then the D78 towards Bourdeilles.

Entrance: 11 euros (free for children under 5 years old). Castle visit included.
