A Bicentennial Agricultural Show
The tradition of agricultural shows was initiated in Dordogne in Lanouaille in 1824, making this event one of the oldest in France. For two centuries, the Comice Agricole de Lanouaille has perpetuated this tradition by bringing together breeders, farmers, and producers from Périgord vert and neighboring departments every October.
Limousin Cattle Competition
The highlight of the show is the Limousin cattle competition, a departmental and interdepartmental event that showcases the finest specimens of the Limousin breed in the presentation ring. Animal exhibitions of all breeds complement the agricultural aspect: miniature horses, Friesians, poultry, and farm animals.
Fairs, Markets, and Traditions
The show is accompanied by fairs for walnuts, chestnuts, apples, wine, and cider, reflecting the autumn produce of the Périgord region. A flea market, folklore and street entertainment, shows, and a Bugeaud banquet (in honor of Marshal Bugeaud, a local son) complete the program of this festive and popular day.

The Comice Agricole de Lanouaille returns on Sunday, October 18, 2026 to the village of Lanouaille, in Périgord vert. Departmental and interdepartmental Limousin cattle breeding competition, walnut, chestnut, apple, wine and cider fair, flea market, folk and street entertainment, animal exhibitions and Bugeaud banquet by reservation.
2026 Edition — Sunday, October 18
The Comice Agricole de Lanouaille will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2026, continuing this bicentennial tradition born in Lanouaille in 1824. The highlight of the day is the departmental and interdepartmental Limousin cattle breeding competition, with presentations in the ring from 9 AM.
Throughout the day, visitors will find exhibitions of animals of all breeds (including miniature horses and Friesian horses), the walnut, chestnut, apple, wine and cider fair, a flea market, folk and street entertainment, as well as an exhibition at the town hall. At 1 PM, the traditional Bugeaud banquet (catered by Jérôme Siorac) gathers guests by reservation.
