A festival born from the meeting of three institutions
La Quinzaine de la Danse was born in 2017 from an initiative by Thomas Ress, director of Espace 110 — Centre Culturel d'Illzach. Convinced that dance deserved a dedicated highlight in the Mulhouse cultural landscape, he partnered with Benoît André, director of La Filature, Scène nationale de Mulhouse, and Bruno Bouché, director of the Centre Chorégraphique National — Ballet de l'Opéra national du Rhin. This unique partnership between three major institutions is the strength and originality of the festival, which has since offered a panoramic view of current choreographic creation.
A program between major names and discoveries
Each edition of La Quinzaine de la Danse unfolds an ambitious program where the most varied aesthetics meet. Major figures in contemporary dance such as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Ohad Naharin and the Batsheva Dance Company, Tero Saarinen, or Crystal Pite share the bill with emerging young regional and national companies. The festival explores all choreographic forms: contemporary dance, classical ballet, baroque dance, performance, hip-hop dance, club dance, and unclassifiable creations that push the boundaries of the genre.
Three venues, three atmospheres
La Quinzaine de la Danse unfolds across three main venues with complementary identities. La Filature, housed in a former textile factory converted into a national stage, offers a high-level technical platform for major productions. Espace 110 in Illzach, a few minutes from Mulhouse, provides a more intimate setting conducive to experimental formats and audience encounters. The performances of the Ballet de l'Opéra national du Rhin complete the program with pieces from the classical repertoire and contemporary creations. Other venues such as Viandanse and Noumatrouff occasionally host festive events.
Dance accessible to all
Beyond the shows, La Quinzaine de la Danse offers numerous participatory moments that invite the public to become active. Introductory workshops, choreographic balls, meetings with artists, and DJ sets extend the festival experience in a friendly atmosphere. The Pass Quinzaine, which offers reduced rates on subsequent shows upon purchase of a first full-price ticket, encourages discovery and openness to various aesthetics. The festival firmly asserts that dance is a universal language, capable of touching everyone regardless of their cultural background.
