The big flea market in the old town, every 1st Sunday of the month
The Marché aux Puces de Belfort is one of the largest flea markets in Eastern France. For over 50 years, it has been held every first Sunday of the month (from March to December) in the old town, Place d'Armes. Nearly 150 exhibitors - antique dealers, second-hand dealers, bargain hunters - offer furniture, trinkets, clothing, books, and curiosities from 7 am to 12:30 pm in this unique treasure hunt atmosphere.
For over half a century, the Marché aux Puces de Belfort has been a must-attend event in the cultural and commercial life of the prefecture of Territoire de Belfort. Organized every first Sunday of the month, from March to December, on the Place d'Armes in the old town, it brings together up to 150 exhibitors from all over the region to offer their finds to collectors and bargain hunters from all walks of life.
The Belfort flea market has gradually established itself as one of the most important in the Grand Est region, attracting thousands of visitors each month from Belfort, but also from Haut-Rhin, Doubs, and even Switzerland and Germany. The diversity and quality of the exhibitors make it a prime hunting ground for lovers of second-hand goods and antiques.
You can find an eclectic selection:
The market takes place on the Place d'Armes, in the heart of Belfort's old town, a stone's throw from the Vauban citadel and the Lion of Belfort rock. This exceptional historical setting adds a cultural and heritage dimension to the practice of bargain hunting. The cobbled streets of the old town, the facades of bourgeois houses, and the proximity of the fortress create a unique atmosphere that enhances the market's appeal.
The market starts early, from 7 am, for early risers who want to get the best items before the crowds. It ends at 12:30 pm, leaving time for exhibitors to pack up. For exhibitors, registration is done directly on site in the morning. Visitors have free access to the market, with no entrance fee.
The Belfort flea market will be held on March 1st, April 5th, May 3rd, June 7th, July 5th, August 2nd, September 6th, October 4th, November 1st, and December 6th, 2026, always from 7 am to 12:30 pm in the old town.
