Over 250 winter activities in the heart of the Lion City
Every year from early December to early January, Belfort transforms into a magical winter kingdom with Le Mois Givré. Place d'Armes hosts the Village des P'tits Givrés with igloos, towed buoys, Santa's house, and a small Ferris wheel. An ice rink on Place Corbis, ice go-karts on Place des Vosges, gourmet chalets, and over 250 free activities make this event the unmissable winter gathering in the Territoire de Belfort.
Since 2014, the City of Belfort has transformed its city center into a huge winter park under the banner of Le Mois Givré. Every year from early December to early January, the Lion City dons its festive lights and offers its residents and visitors over 250 free activities for all ages. The event spans several emblematic squares in the heart of Belfort, each dedicated to a different theme or activity, creating a true festive trail through the city.
The majestic Place d'Armes, framed by the Saint-Christophe cathedral and the town hall, is the beating heart of Le Mois Givré. The Village des P'tits Givrés sets up its winter installations: a giant igloo, towed buoys, skis and snowshoes for children, a sliding trail, and the much-anticipated Santa's House where children can share their wishes with him, accompanied by stories and small concerts until December 24th. A light-up Ferris wheel and a magical little train complete the scene, offering families a life-size Christmas tale atmosphere.
Le Mois Givré offers three areas dedicated to sliding sports. The 500 m² open-air ice rink on Place Georges-Corbis welcomes amateur and experienced skaters, with a specially designed area for toddlers (50 m²) to learn to skate safely. On Place des Vosges, a 200 m² ice go-kart circuit offers a unique winter driving experience. The Arsenal car park hosts a tourist train that explores the illuminated streets of the city. The event's mascots — Givrou, Réno, and P'tit Biscuit — mingle with visitors to liven up these different areas.
Along the Faubourg de France and the Pont Sadi-Carnot, the wooden chalets of local artisans and producers welcome visitors in a warm and fragrant atmosphere. Spiced mulled wine, golden pretzels, artisanal gingerbread, fine chocolates, and local creations punctuate the gourmet stroll. An outdoor tavern offers food and hot drinks to warm visitors between activities. The market mascots guide children from chalet to chalet to discover the flavors of Alsatian-Comtois winter.
The 2025-2026 edition kicked off the festivities on Saturday, December 6th with a concert on Place d'Armes featuring Natacha St Pier and exceptional ice shows. On December 27th, Olympic figure skating champion Brian Joubert joined the Patinair troupe for the show Un Voyage Givré, blending figure skating and light performances. The Jeu de piste Givré (December 21st to January 2nd) invited families to solve riddles on a trail through the pedestrian center to break the spell cast on the Lion of Belfort. On January 3rd, the ice show Il était une fée revisited three universal fairy tales with breathtaking magical transformations.
Belfort's Le Mois Givré is increasingly establishing itself each year as one of the major winter events in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region and the Grand Est. Its entirely free program, diverse activities for all ages, and its location in the heart of Belfort's historical heritage make it an unmissable family event. The City of Belfort, the exclusive organizer of the event, reserves artistic surprises and innovations each year to renew the experience for its loyal visitors and attract new ones from neighboring departments and beyond the borders with nearby Alsace and Switzerland.
Le Mois Givré 2026-2027 will return to Belfort's city center in early December for another month of winter magic. The Village des P'tits Givrés will reclaim its spot on Place d'Armes, the ice rink on Place Corbis, and ice go-karts on Place des Vosges will welcome sliding enthusiasts again. Concerts and exceptional shows will mark the highlights of this new edition. The full program will be announced in the fall of 2026.
