Over a century of funfair tradition in Mulhouse

The history of the Mulhouse Fair Kermesse dates back to the 1880s, when the first showmen set up near the train station. Around 1910, the event moved to the Nordfeld district, then settled for 80 years on the Place du 14 Juillet, in the heart of the city, before finding its current location in the Parc des Expositions car park in 1998. This exceptional longevity testifies to the deep attachment of the people of Mulhouse and Alsace to their funfair, which has become an unmissable summer event over the decades.

200 attractions for all emotions

Every summer, nearly 200 showman families converge on Mulhouse to deploy a spectacular array of attractions on the vast esplanade of the Parc Expo. Thrill-seekers can find France's most dizzying rides: Top Scan, Ferris wheels, roller coasters, and zero-gravity attractions that compete in daring and technology. Families can enjoy carousels, miniature trains, trampolines, and rides for toddlers. Timeless classics—bumper cars, haunted houses, mirror mazes—stand alongside the latest novelties from the European funfair circuit.

A national-scale event

Ranked among the five largest funfairs in France, the Mulhouse Fair Kermesse rivals the fairs of Paris, Lyon, Lille, and Marseille. This recognition highlights the sheer scale of the event, which spans over three weeks between late July and mid-August. Each edition attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over Alsace, Franche-Comté, neighboring Switzerland, and southern Germany, making the Fair Kermesse a true economic and tourist driver for the region.

Fireworks and special entertainment

The Fair Kermesse punctuates its three weeks of opening with memorable highlights. The opening fireworks display, fired on the first Saturday evening around 11 PM, marks the start of the festivities in an electric atmosphere. Half-price Wednesday offers exceptional 50% discounts on rides, attracting large numbers of families. The August 15th fireworks display beautifully concludes the heart of the event. The numerous food stalls offer funfair specialties—cotton candy, candy apples, churros, waffles—as well as Alsatian specialties.
