About Fête de la Musique Mulhouse

Every June 21st for over forty years, Mulhouse has celebrated the Fête de la Musique by offering its inhabitants an evening of free concerts throughout the city center. From the Place de la Réunion, enlivened by Le Noumatrouff, to the improvised stages on Rue du Sauvage and in the Porte Jeune district, rock, electro, metal, hip-hop, jazz, world music, and French chanson resonate until the end of the night in a effervescent and popular atmosphere.

Over forty years of music in the streets of Mulhouse

Since the creation of the Fête de la Musique in France in 1982, Mulhouse has enthusiastically participated in this national celebration of the summer solstice. The 2025 edition marked the 43rd edition of this event, which transforms the city of Bollwerk into a vast open-air stage every year. The city, known for its cultural dynamism and vibrant music scene, makes this evening a highlight of its festive calendar, attracting thousands of Mulhouse residents and visitors to the streets of the city center.

Place de la Réunion: Main stage with Le Noumatrouff

The beating heart of Mulhouse's Fête de la Musique is located at Place de la Réunion, in front of the Temple Saint-Étienne. The main stage, managed by Le Noumatrouff—the city's emblematic contemporary music venue—hosts a curated program of contemporary music. In 2025, the audience enjoyed performances by Fancy Dolcy, the Belfort-based trio Caesaria, Exotica Lunatica, and La Tartine in a series of concerts from 8 PM to 1 AM. This stage sets the tone for the evening with emerging artists and quality regional bands.

Stages in every district

Beyond the Place de la Réunion, music takes over the entire city center. The parking lot of the Université Populaire hosts the most intense acts—Devhyom (death metal), Omen Haze (rock), and Selenic (progressive rock-metal)—starting at 7 PM. Squ'art, an alternative cultural space on Rue du Sauvage, features Ad El Mariachi and Narf from 6 PM. The café terraces at Porte Jeune, Rue du Sauvage, and Place de la Bourse become improvised stages where musicians of all styles perform spontaneously.

All music genres, all audiences

The strength of the Fête de la Musique in Mulhouse lies in the extraordinary diversity of styles represented. In a single evening, you can go from death metal to mariachi, from progressive rock to French chanson, from electro to jazz. This variety reflects the richness of the Mulhouse music scene and the open-mindedness of a multicultural city. The concerts are completely free, allowing everyone to wander freely from one stage to another, make discoveries, and be surprised by the music erupting on every street corner.

A unifying and popular event

Organized by the City of Mulhouse in partnership with Le Noumatrouff and local cultural associations, the Fête de la Musique is a moment of social cohesion and civic pride. The event brings together all generations and backgrounds in a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Food trucks, refreshment stands, and terraces extend the celebration well beyond the concerts, making this June 21st evening an unmissable event of the Mulhouse summer.
