The Sundgau craft beer festival organized by La Nifferer Schnocka
The Niffer Beer Festival is a festive and friendly event organized annually at the end of September by the association La Nifferer Schnocka. In the village's multi-activity hall, good beer enthusiasts discover a wide selection of craft and regional beers, accompanied by tarte flambée, sausages, and gourmet treats. The Oktoberfest atmosphere is ensured by a DJ, and entry is free for those who come in traditional Bavarian attire. Created in 2022, this beer festival has quickly become a popular event in the Haut-Rhin Sundgau region.
Since 2022, the association La Nifferer Schnocka has organized a Beer Festival every late September in Niffer, a small village in the Sundgau region located between Mulhouse and Basel. The event is part of the tradition of autumn brewing festivals, with an Alsatian touch and an atmosphere inspired by the Bavarian Oktoberfest. In just a few editions, the festival has become a popular event for craft beer enthusiasts in the region.
The heart of the event is the beer. La Nifferer Schnocka offers a wide selection of craft and regional beers, carefully selected from local breweries. During previous editions, the association partnered with the Meteor brewery to offer about ten different beers, from light lagers to full-bodied dark beers, including amber and seasonal beers. Discovery and tasting are at the core of the experience.
The beer is accompanied by Alsatian specialties prepared by the association's volunteers. The tarte flambée, cooked traditionally, is the star of the menu, complemented by viennoises (Alsatian sausages) and homemade pastries. Among the Schnocka's specialties, the Schnocka'Spaetz, a delicious mix of spaetzle, cabbage, and lardons, has become a signature dish of the event.
A DJ provides musical entertainment throughout the evening, creating a festive and danceable atmosphere in Niffer's multi-activity hall. The event's unique feature: entry is free for anyone who arrives in traditional Bavarian attire — Dirndl for women, Lederhosen for men. This nod to Germanic brewing culture adds a touch of good humor and conviviality to the evening.
The association La Nifferer Schnocka, founded in 2010, is the main driver of community life in Niffer. With about fifty members, including the Schnockalas — the youth section created in 2016 — the association organizes events throughout the year that punctuate village life. The Beer Festival has become its flagship event, reflecting the spirit of conviviality and solidarity that characterizes this dynamic Sundgau association.
