Practical Advice
Wear walking shoes suitable for hilly terrain. The hike takes place rain or shine. No strollers on the route. A glass will be provided at the start for wine tastings.
A Gastronomic Stroll Through the Alsace Vineyards
Every autumn, the Marche Gourmande de Sigolsheim invites hikers to discover the Alsace vineyard in a different way. This 8-kilometer trail, accessible to all, crosses the village of Sigolsheim, climbs through the sloping vineyards to the Mambourg hill, offering spectacular panoramas of the Alsace plain, the Vosges mountains, and the Weiss valley. In October, the vines adorned in their autumn colors—gold, purple, and copper—create a magnificent backdrop for this gourmet hike.
Six Gourmet Stops Along the Route
The route is punctuated by six tasting stops that make up a complete menu prepared with regional products. The menu varies each year but always follows the same progression: an aperitif (gratinated pretzel or other specialty), an appetizer (lentil and bacon soup, winemaker's salad), a tasting break (smoked trout bite, cream cheese wrap), a main course (wild boar shoulder with red cabbage and apples, served with chestnut flour spaetzle), a regional cheese platter, and a dessert with coffee (autumn-flavored éclair). Each dish is paired with a glass of Alsace wine selected by the winemakers of Kaysersberg Vignoble.
The Terroir of Kaysersberg Vignoble
Sigolsheim is part of the new commune of Kaysersberg Vignoble, created in 2016 from the merger of Kaysersberg, Kientzheim, and Sigolsheim. This exceptional terroir, located on the Alsace Wine Route, is home to the Grand Cru Mambourg, one of the most prestigious in Alsace, renowned for its exceptionally aromatic Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris. The gourmet hike crosses this classified vineyard, allowing participants to taste the wines in their natural setting, facing the plots where they were born. It's a total immersion into the Alsatian wine heritage.
A Friendly Event Supported by the Community
The Marche Gourmande is organized by the Association Sportive de Sigolsheim, the village's historic multi-sport club. The event's profits fund the association's sports activities. A team of passionate volunteers ensures the preparation of the gourmet stops, the marking of the route, and the welcome of participants. At the finish line, at the Sigolsheim communal stadium, musical entertainment and a producers' market extend the celebration, allowing hikers to rediscover the flavors tasted on the route and leave with local products.
Fifteen Years of Gourmet Loyalty
Since its first edition in 2010, the Marche Gourmande de Sigolsheim has built a loyal following of enthusiasts who return year after year. The event, limited in participant numbers to preserve the quality of the experience, regularly sells out well in advance. Registrations open several months ahead, and closing usually occurs in September, as soon as the maximum capacity is reached. This loyalty attests to the quality of the organization, the beauty of the route, and the excellence of the food and wine offered.
