Founded in 1992 by composer and conductor Daniel Tosi, the Festival Aujourd'hui Musiques is the autumn event for sound and visual creation in Perpignan. Every November, for about ten days, the Théâtre de l'Archipel — Perpignan's national stage — hosts around thirty performances mixing contemporary music, sound installations, dance, circus, cinema, and multimedia. The festival champions an open and eclectic approach to musical creation, with a majority of events free of charge.
Since 1992, the Festival Aujourd'hui Musiques has explored the territories of sound and visual creation in Perpignan. Founded by Daniel Tosi, composer, conductor, Prix de Rome 1983, and former director of the Perpignan Conservatory, the festival has become a must-attend event for contemporary music in the South of France.
Since 2011, the festival has been at the heart of the programming at the Théâtre de l'Archipel, Perpignan's national stage located on Avenue Général Leclerc. This contemporary building, designed by architect Jean Nouvel, offers several performance spaces suitable for the most diverse forms of musical and stage creation.

Since 2012, the festival has considerably broadened its artistic scope with an increased presence of dance, circus, cinema, and multimedia, thus enriching the audience's experience.
Each edition invites artists and composers at the forefront of the most current creation, as well as essential works from the 20th century. The festival also offers meetings with artists, commented public rehearsals, masterclasses, conferences, and sound creation workshops.
True to its mission of cultural democratization, Aujourd'hui Musiques offers most of its events for free access. The opening evening concerts highlight artists from Occitanie, creating a strong link with the territory and its creators.
