The C.L.A.C. Festival: twenty years of passion for short films

Since 2005, the C.L.A.C. Festival (Certain.e.s L'Aiment Court) has been the unmissable event for student short films in Lyon. Created and organized by the Arts Office of emlyon business school, this festival celebrates the short format each year by offering an exceptional showcase for young French and international filmmakers aged 18 to 30.

Two evenings of screenings and encounters

The festival takes place over two evenings at the Pathé Vaise cinema (43 rue des Docks, Lyon 9th), one of Lyon's largest cinema complexes:

  • First evening: screening of professional short films out of competition and student works, followed by discussions with the creative teams.
  • Second evening: screening of films in competition, audience and professional jury vote, followed by an awards ceremony and closing cocktail.

A springboard for young directors

Films submitted to C.L.A.C. must adhere to an imposed theme that changes each year, and their duration must be between 2 and 12 minutes. A jury composed of film industry professionals evaluates the competing works and awards several prizes during the closing ceremony. Each edition attracts around 300 spectators, creating an atmosphere that is both festive and demanding.

A festival rooted in Lyon's cultural life

Over its twenty years of existence, the C.L.A.C. Festival has become a recognized player in the Lyon film scene. Driven by the energy and commitment of emlyon students, it illustrates the vitality of short films as an art form in their own right. The festival has successfully built relationships with film professionals and cultural institutions in the metropolis, confirming its role as a bridge between the student world and the film industry.

Pathé Vaise: a showcase for short films

The choice of the Pathé Vaise cinema as the festival venue offers selected films professional screening conditions: a large screen, Dolby sound, and a comfortable auditorium. This presentation contributes to the festival's ambition to treat short films with the same seriousness and quality as feature films.
