Lyon Comedy Festival: Stand-up, Lyon-style
Born from the energy of Le Speaker, a comedy club located in the heart of the Croix-Rousse slopes, the Lyon Comedy Festival has quickly become the must-attend event for stand-up in Lyon. Building on the success of its first edition, the festival returns every summer with a clear ambition: to make Lyon a capital of laughter and live humor, mirroring the great Parisian and Anglo-Saxon stages.
Two Weeks of Non-Stop Laughter
From late June to early July, the Lyon Comedy Festival unfolds a rich program over nearly two weeks. Every evening, Le Speaker hosts comedian showcases mixing emerging talents and established artists. The formats are varied: "carte blanche" events, themed nights, improv battles, and discovery showcases allow the audience to experience stand-up in all its diversity.
Le Speaker: A Venue for Laughter
Located at 24 rue Royale in the 1st arrondissement, Le Speaker is more than just a bar: it's a true American-style comedy club transplanted to the heart of Lyon. Its intimate atmosphere, with a reduced capacity that fosters proximity between artists and spectators, creates the ideal conditions for intense and memorable shows. The room, bathed in dim lighting, vibrates every evening to the rhythm of punchlines and bursts of laughter.
A Springboard for the Lyon Stand-up Scene
The Lyon Comedy Festival plays a major role in structuring the Lyon stand-up scene. By offering a summer showcase for local comedians and hosting national artists, the festival builds a network of exchanges that energizes the entire local comedy ecosystem. Many artists who have performed at Le Speaker have gone on to conquer larger stages, making the festival a true talent incubator.
Special Off-Site Evenings
Beyond Le Speaker, some special event evenings are held in larger venues, such as the Palais de la Mutualité, to host exceptional showcases bringing together several artists on the same stage. These special evenings, with a festive and electric atmosphere, are the highlights of the festival and attract an ever-wider audience.
