Les Mouvements T Dance Festival

A contemporary dance festival rooted in the Alpine territory

Since 2011, the association Art et Culture - La Chouette has been organizing the Festival Les Mouvements T, a biennial contemporary dance festival in public spaces that travels from village to village across the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Each edition is designed in relation to the heritage and topography of the host municipality, offering a unique experience where dance is integrated into the alleys, squares, staircases, and landscapes of the chosen village.

A pluralistic approach to contemporary dance

The Festival Les Mouvements T offers a resolutely pluralistic approach to contemporary dance. The program combines performances by professional companies, practical workshops open to all audiences, screenings, balètis (popular danced balls), and choreographic processions. From hip-hop to contact dance, from the Cyr wheel to aerial dance, including contemporary creations and participatory performances, the festival embraces all dance aesthetics to reach a wide audience.

A traveling journey through the villages

Traveling is at the heart of the festival's identity. Since its creation, Les Mouvements T has set up in numerous villages in the department: Annot, Rougon, Villars-Colmars, La Mure-Argens, Sausses, Colmars-les-Alpes, Saint-Julien-du-Verdon, Senez, Entrevaux, and La Palud-sur-Verdon. At each stop, the festival builds connections with residents, local associations, schools, and elected officials to create an event rooted in village life, balancing conviviality and artistic excellence.

Professional dance companies

The festival invites professional companies recognized in the French choreographic scene. Among the artists and companies that have participated in previous editions are Cie Paon dans le Ciment (Clément Baudoin), Cie Wazo (Pierre-Emmanuel Langry), Cie Chaos, Cie du Faubourg, Cie Octobre 82, Boom Bap & Compagnie, Accrorap (choreography by Kader Attou), Cie La Guetteuse, and Duo Vargoz. Collaborations with the Théâtre Durance (Scène nationale) and the R.I.R. network strengthen the professional dimension of the event.

Workshops and shared moments

Each edition includes morning practical workshops, open to all ages and levels: contact dance, contemporary dance, intergenerational workshops, parent-child choreographic initiation. The afternoon and evening are dedicated to performances, which follow one another in different locations in the village. An aperitif offered by the municipality, a friendly picnic, and a refreshment bar punctuate the breaks. In case of rain, all activities are covered.
