Metz Oktoberfest: The Beer Festival in Lorraine

Every autumn, the Metz Beer and Sauerkraut Festival takes over the Place de la République to transform the heart of the city into a warm and friendly Bavarian village. For over fifteen years, this event has become the unmissable meeting point for hop and gastronomy enthusiasts in the Grand Est region.

A Life-Sized Oktoberfest Village

Under immense tents decorated in Bavarian colors, visitors find themselves in a festive and warm atmosphere. The village offers a traditional rotisserie with roast chicken, suckling pig, ribs, and pork knuckle, accompanied by the famous sauerkraut cooked according to tradition. The bar offers a wide selection of blond, amber, and white beers, served in the proper manner.

Daily Musical Entertainment

The atmosphere is set to the rhythm of Bavarian orchestras and musical groups performing every evening:

  • Jacky Melody: lively musical entertainment on Friday and Saturday evenings
  • Sunlight Music: concerts on Sundays and early in the week
  • Les Copains d'Abord: daytime musical entertainment

An Event Gaining Momentum

The Metz Beer Festival has successfully built a loyal following over its editions. The event attracts families during the day and groups of friends in the evening, creating a convivial atmosphere that has earned this popular festival its reputation. Restaurant reservations are possible online, a sign of growing enthusiasm for this event, which has become an autumn classic in Metz.

A Generous Gastronomic Offer

Beyond beer, the festival highlights Bavarian and Alsatian gastronomy with hearty and delicious dishes served at your table or for takeaway. Sauerkraut, the event's emblematic dish, is prepared according to traditional recipes and served with sausages, smoked bacon, and potatoes.
