The eco-responsible traveler's festival

Created in 2018 by the Lyon-based association On The Green Road, the Festival du Voyage Engagé has become in a few years the main French event dedicated to responsible and committed travel. Every spring in Lyon, about twenty project leaders share their experiences of positive impact travel, inviting the public to reinvent their way of exploring the world.

A rich and participatory program

The festival is structured around several complementary formats: conferences where travelers share their journeys and local initiatives encountered along the way, documentary film screenings, immersive exhibitions that transport visitors around the globe, and practical workshops — how to set up a bivouac, create a travel journal, travel light, or reduce one's carbon footprint while traveling. A moment of authentic and inspiring sharing.

A weekend to change perspective

More than just a travel festival, the Festival du Voyage Engagé is an ideas laboratory where explorers, environmental activists, artists, and curious citizens meet. Travelers present their projects through various media — photos, videos, stories, performances — and invite reflection on our current societies to better build those of tomorrow. The event brings together over 500 people each year in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

On The Green Road: travel for the planet

The association On The Green Road, founded in 2017 in Lyon, supports committed travelers who go to meet positive local initiatives around the world. The festival is the annual highlight of this initiative, allowing the public to share the discoveries and reflections born from these journeys. An essential event for anyone who wants to travel differently.
