Vervins Comedy Festival

Over twenty years of laughter in the heart of Thiérache

Since its creation in 2003, the Vervins Comedy Festival has established itself as the major comedy event in northern Aisne and Thiérache. Supported by the association Festiv'Art and produced by Divan Production (also known as L'Agence des Artistes), the festival brings together thousands of spectators each year in October to laugh and have fun at the Salle Polyvalente de Vervins, Place Sohier.

Over the years, the Vervins Comedy Festival has hosted the biggest names in French comedy: Nicolas Canteloup, Anne Roumanoff, Laurent Baffie, Jean-Marie Bigard, Julien Courbet, Cauet, Chantal Ladesou, Laura Laune, Issa Doumbia, Olivier de Benoist, Michel Boujenah, Le Comte de Bouderbala, Seb Mellia, Bernard Mabille, Jeanfi Janssens, and many others. Each edition offers three to four evenings of shows, mixing one-man shows, stand-up, sketches, and satirical reviews.

The Comedy Showcase: a breeding ground for talent

One of the festival's original features is its Comedy Showcase, organized annually on the Saturday to close the event. This competition allows six selected young comedians to perform in front of the audience and a professional jury. The winner gets the privilege of performing as the opening act for a confirmed artist at the next edition of the festival. This showcase has helped launch many talents from the French comedy scene.

A festive and friendly format over several days

The festival traditionally takes place over three to four days, from Wednesday to Saturday, during the second week of October. Each evening starts at 8:30 PM and features one or two artists, often accompanied by an opening act by a young talent. The Salle Polyvalente de Vervins, located at Place Sohier, offers a friendly atmosphere and a capacity that allows for real proximity between artists and the audience. Tickets are available at the Vervins town hall and online through partner ticketing platforms.

The Vervins Comedy Festival plays an important role in the cultural animation of Thiérache, a rural area in northern Aisne. By attracting nationally renowned artists to this charming small town, the festival contributes to the influence of Vervins and its region, while offering residents access to quality shows without having to travel to major cities. The event benefits from the support of the Ville de Vervins and local authorities.
