The meeting point for international solidarity and global citizenship in Belfort
The Festival des Solidarités (Festisol) in Belfort is the annual highlight of international solidarity in the Territoire de Belfort. Every November, this committed gathering offers films, debates, shows, and encounters to raise public awareness of global issues. Coordinated by the Collectif Festisol Belfort, it brings together associations, local authorities, and citizens around an open vision of the world.
The Festival des Solidarités, known as Festisol, is a national event that takes place locally in hundreds of French cities. In Belfort, the Collectif Festisol Belfort coordinates a rich and varied program every November, mobilizing associations, educational institutions, local authorities, and committed citizens around the issues of international solidarity.
Festisol was born on the initiative of global citizenship education networks. In Belfort, it benefits from the support of the City of Belfort, the General Council of the Territoire de Belfort, and BFC International, the regional agency for international cooperation in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. This solid institutional partnership guarantees the event's sustainability and influence throughout the region.
The festival offers an eclectic program throughout November: screenings of documentary and fiction films, debates and conferences with specialized speakers, awareness-raising live performances, exhibitions, participatory workshops, and meetings with development actors. Each edition highlights current themes: migration, climate, human rights, economic inequalities, global governance.
A major focus of the Belfort Festisol is the awareness-raising among young people. School screenings, in-class debates, and interventions in high schools and middle schools in the Territoire de Belfort reach thousands of students. The collective is historically coordinated by students from the IUT de Belfort, reinforcing this connection with youth.
The Collectif Festisol Belfort brings together about twenty associations active in the fields of solidarity, international cooperation, sustainable development, and popular education. This collective dynamic makes the festival a true meeting place between the actors of Belfort's civil society and the general public.
The 27th edition of the Festival des Solidarités will be held in November 2026 in the Territoire de Belfort. The program will focus on international solidarity, with films, debates, shows, and encounters. The detailed program will be announced in the fall of 2026.
