Musical creations and performing arts in Meuse
The Festival Densités is a contemporary creation event organized by the association Vu d'un Œuf since 1995 in Meuse. This multidisciplinary festival explores musical improvisation, free jazz, avant-rock, dance, and performance. Internationally recognized, Densités offers a meeting space between established and emerging artists every autumn. The festival also develops an artistic education component through workshops, residencies, and local outreach.
Since 1995, the Festival Densités has established itself as one of the major events for contemporary musical creation in France. Organized by the association Vu d'un Œuf, founded in 1990, the festival offers a demanding and generous program every autumn that brings music into dialogue with dance, poetry, visual arts, and performance.
The artistic project of Densités revolves around the practice of improvisation and contemporary creation. The program covers a wide aesthetic spectrum: free jazz, improvised music, avant-rock, electroacoustic music, revisited traditional music, but also contemporary dance, poetic improvisation, and multidisciplinary performances. This artistic openness allows each edition to surprise and renew the audience's experience.
Over its more than thirty editions, the festival has hosted major figures from the international contemporary music scene alongside promising young artists. This coexistence of recognized artists and emerging creators is one of Densités' hallmarks, offering the public the opportunity to discover the most current trends in creation.
Based since 2001 in the territory of Fresnes-en-Woëvre, in the heart of the Woëvre plain in Meuse, the festival maintains a close relationship with its host territory. The Vu d'un Œuf association develops cultural outreach activities for residents throughout the year: music practice workshops for young people and adults, artistic residencies in the heart of villages, participatory projects, and actions promoting inclusion and disability.
Artistic education plays a central role in the association's project. Awareness workshops are offered to schoolchildren, leisure centers, and medico-social structures in the department. These actions help familiarize audiences with creative music and improvisation, in a spirit of sharing and discovery.
The Festival Densités is distinguished by its intimate format, which fosters proximity between artists and spectators. Over three days, concerts, shows, and meetings follow one another in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The human scale of the event allows for true immersion in the world of each artist and encourages exchanges between the public and creators.
The festival has its own web radio, Radio Densités, which broadcasts concert recordings, artist interviews, and sound creations. This digital extension helps to broadcast the program far beyond the festival period and to build a valuable sound archive of contemporary creation.
In addition to the festival, the Vu d'un Œuf association produces and supports creation residencies, record productions, and exhibitions. These activities contribute to supporting creation throughout the year and strengthening Densités' role as a true artistic factory serving contemporary music and performing arts.
32nd edition of the Festival Densités. The Vu d'un Œuf association continues the adventure with a new chapter of contemporary creation blending improvised music, dance, performance, and sound arts. Program and venue to be confirmed.
