The essential meeting for equestrian shows in France
Festival Equestria is a unique event dedicated to equestrian shows, held every summer at the Haras de Tarbes, at the foot of the Pyrenees. Since 1997, this family festival has celebrated the magic of horses and the arts through live shows, equestrian demonstrations, and encounters between riders-artists. More than 47,000 festival-goers come each year to experience unforgettable moments up close with horses, in the exceptional setting of the Haras de Tarbes, founded under Napoleon, transformed for the occasion into a charming and enchanting rural haven.
Born in the heart of the Pyrenees in Tarbes, a city with an excellent equestrian tradition, Festival Equestria has established itself over the years as a must-see event for equestrian shows in France. Every summer for six days in July, the Haras de Tarbes — a historic site of over 8 hectares founded under Napoleon — transforms into a magical place where equestrian arts meet live performance.
The festival's format allows visitors to discover the diversity of equestrian shows through three major daily performances presented in three different locations at the Haras. Under the big top and in the arena, the most talented equestrian companies offer original creations blending equestrian prowess, theater, dance, music, and circus arts. Each show offers a different perspective on the relationship between humans and horses.
For its 30th edition in 2026, Festival Equestria celebrates three decades of passion, original creations, and sharing with the public. The program features renowned companies: Compagnie Jehol with the show "Prohibé", Magali Delgado and Frédéric Pignon with "Sueño", and Diego'N Co with "Don Quichotte, folie équestre".
Beyond the main ticketed shows, the festival offers numerous free activities: equestrian demonstrations, street performances, workshops for children, and opportunities to meet the horses. Entry to the festival site is free, allowing all families to enjoy the unique atmosphere of this event. The Haras de Tarbes provides an ideal rural setting for strolling, picnicking, and discovering the world of horses in a friendly atmosphere.
