Forró, a Brazilian dance in the heart of Drôme

Forró is a dance and music originating from the Brazilian Northeast, characterized by its infectious rhythm and conviviality. A partner dance that is both simple and expressive, forró is danced to music played on the triangle, zabumba (percussion), and accordion. The Forró Diois Festival brings this festive and warm atmosphere to the exceptional setting of Châtillon-en-Diois, a medieval village in the Drôme region listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France.

An immersive dance and music festival

For three to four days, the festival offers an intensive program of forró dance classes for all levels, led by renowned instructors. More than 25 workshops are offered, covering different styles of forró: universitário, pé de serra, and roots. The days are punctuated by free aperitifs with dance initiations, and the evenings come alive with concerts by live musicians and jam sessions in the Henri Kubnick village hall.

The Forró Diois Festival stands out for its friendly and warm atmosphere, true to the spirit of Brazilian forró. The meals offer local and organic cuisine, highlighting producers from the Diois region. Shows and entertainment complete the program. The festival is organized by the association La Manufacture, based in Diois, which works to promote Brazilian dance and culture in rural areas. The festival attracts participants from all over France and Europe.
