Art and wine in a medieval village classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France
Since 1995, the Festival Arts et Vigne has celebrated, every year during the first full week of August, the alliance of art and wine in the medieval village of Châtillon-en-Diois, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France. For a week, the village's 'cabanons' (wine storehouses) and shepherd huts are transformed into galleries hosting around sixty artists. Concerts, shows, wine walks, tastings of Diois wines, local cuisine meals, and the famous 'Nuit des Cabanons' (Night of the Cabanons) punctuate this unique multidisciplinary festival.
Created in 1995, the Festival Arts et Vigne was born from the desire to celebrate the wine and artistic heritage of Châtillon-en-Diois, a medieval village in the Drôme region classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France since 2021. For thirty years, this event has successfully combined artistic excellence and wine-related conviviality, becoming a must-attend event of the Diois summer.
The heart of the festival is a village-gallery set up in the 'cabanons' and shepherd huts of the medieval center. Approximately 70 artists exhibit their works in about sixty exhibition spaces: painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, engraving, illustration, textile art, and installations. The medieval alleys, vaulted passageways, and small village squares become an open-air artistic trail, where visitors move from one studio to another in an atmosphere of discovery and encounter.
The 'Nuit des Cabanons' is the festival's flagship event. This exceptional evening offers a musical walk through the vineyards of Châtillon-en-Diois, punctuated by shows, tastings of Diois wines, and a countryside meal. At dusk, the vineyard 'cabanons' light up and become ephemeral stages for concerts, performances, and surprise entertainment. The evening continues with a DJ set or a popular dance. A unique moment that combines wine, art, and nature under the Diois stars.
The festival highlights the wine appellations of the Diois region: AOC Châtillon-en-Diois, Clairette de Die, Crémant de Die, and Coteaux de Die. Tastings, meetings with winemakers, and wine tourism walks allow visitors to discover these wines in their region of origin. Local meals and producer markets complete the gastronomic offerings.
Throughout the week, the festival features concerts, live performances, conferences, art workshops, and torchlight walks in the medieval village. The association Châtillon Arts et Vigne, driven by passionate volunteers, orchestrates this event with a particular focus on artistic quality and conviviality. Entry to the village-gallery is free.
The 31st edition of the Festival Arts et Vigne will take place in early August 2026 in Châtillon-en-Diois, featuring a village-gallery, the 'Nuit des Cabanons', concerts, and tastings of Diois wines.
