The magic of Christmas in the heart of the shoe city
Romans-sur-Isère, a city famous for shoes and leather, is adorned each year with its most beautiful lights to celebrate Christmas. From the beginning of December, the city transforms into a real Christmas village, offering its visitors an enchanted interlude in the heart of the Isère valley.
The highlight of the festivities, the Romans Christmas Market Halls, are set up under the Canopy on Place Jean Jaurès, with a dozen wooden chalets. Visitors can discover a wide range of local products: charcuterie, Drôme cheeses, artisanal chocolates, regional beers and wines, as well as creations by artisan artists. Every evening, the atmosphere is warmed by musical entertainment and DJ sets that transform the market into a place of conviviality and encounters.

The Christmas Market is part of the rich heritage of Romans-sur-Isère. The city, famous for its historic tanneries and luxury shoe industry, offers an exceptional setting for end-of-year festivities. The medieval alleys, the Saint-Barnard collegiate church, and the Presle district are adorned with light decorations, inviting strolls and discovery of the architectural heritage.
The city center shops actively participate in the event by offering activities, tastings, and special offers, making the Christmas Market a true moment of life for the entire community.
The Romans Christmas Market Halls are open from 4 PM to 10 PM on weekdays and from 11 AM to 10 PM on weekends and public holidays. Access to the market and street entertainment is free.
Romans-sur-Isère is easily accessible from Valence (20 minutes) and from the A7 motorway.
The Christmas Market of Romans-sur-Isère returns for a new edition in December 2026. Visitors will find the Romans Christmas Market Halls under the Canopy, the magical illuminations of the city center, and traditional activities. The full program will be unveiled in Fall 2026.
By car: Romans-sur-Isère is accessible via the A7 motorway (Tain-l'Hermitage/Tournon exit) or A49 (Romans-sur-Isère exit). From Valence, allow about 20 minutes via the D532.
By train: Romans-Bourg-de-Péage station is served by TER trains from Valence and Grenoble.
The Romans Christmas Market Halls: from 4 PM to 10 PM on weekdays, from 11 AM to 10 PM on weekends and public holidays. The illuminations can be seen from dusk throughout December.
