A Christmas Market by Dieulefit Ceramicists

The Dieulefit Ceramic Christmas Market was born from the desire of the association Profusion, a collective of ceramicists from the Dieulefit-Bourdeaux region, to showcase the crafts of clay during the holiday season. Founded in 2021, Profusion brings together potters and ceramicists from the region for common projects to promote their collective know-how.

La Halle de Dieulefit, a Showcase for Ceramics

For about ten days in December, La Halle de Dieulefit transforms into an ephemeral gallery dedicated to ceramics. Around twenty ceramicists present their creations: artisanal tableware, decorative objects, sculptures, clay jewelry, and unique pieces. Visitors will find original Christmas gifts here, handmade by local artisans, in the purest pottery tradition of Dieulefit.

Activities Throughout the Event

The market opens with a festive reception with a concert and mulled wine, setting the tone for the event. Throughout the ten days, various activities punctuate the visits:

• Ceramic throwing demonstrations in the foyer of La Halle
• Raku firing outdoors in front of La Halle
• "Carte blanche" for guest artists (La Caravane des Artistes Correspondants Dieulefit-Lich)
• Participatory sculptures open to the public
• Raffles and friendly activities

Continuing the Pottery Tradition in Winter

This Christmas market is part of the continuation of the two-thousand-year-old pottery tradition of Dieulefit. While the Ceramic Biennale celebrates this heritage in the summer, the Ceramic Christmas Market allows visitors to discover the work of local ceramicists in winter, in a warm and festive atmosphere.

A Collective Committed to the Region

The association Profusion pursues the goal of promoting crafts of clay in the Dieulefit-Bourdeaux region. Beyond the Christmas market, the collective organizes events and activities throughout the year to promote contemporary ceramics and artisanal know-how of the Dieulefit region.
