The artisanal Christmas market of the capital of Diois at the foot of Vercors
Every year in December, the town of Die in Drôme hosts its Christmas Market as part of "Die fête Noël". About fifty local artisans and creators take over Place du Mazel to offer original gift ideas in a warm and festive atmosphere. Tastings of oysters, pogne and crepes, parades of brass bands and Santa Claus, creative workshops and storytelling for children at the media library punctuate this festive day in the heart of the capital of Diois.
For several years, the town of Die has been organizing "Die fête Noël", a festive program that enlivens the entire month of December in the capital of Diois. The Christmas Market is the highlight, bringing together locals and visitors around local crafts and the flavors of the Drôme region, at the foot of the Vercors and Diois mountains.
The Die Christmas Market brings together about fifty artisans and creators on Place du Mazel. Handmade jewelry, ceramics, textiles, wooden toys, natural soaps, illustrations and decorative objects are displayed alongside local delicacies: honeys, jams, nougats, artisanal chocolates and of course the famous Clairette de Die. The focus is on local and artisanal production, with exhibitors selected for the quality of their work.
The day's program is full of activities. From 11 am, the Place du Marché offers tastings of oysters, pogne and crepes. The fanfare of the Écho Diois parades through the streets, accompanied by Santa Claus who distributes sweets and tangerines to children. Creative workshops are offered by the shopkeepers, such as making Christmas tree decorations.
The Die media library participates in the event by offering Christmas tales for children in the late afternoon. Shops in the town center are open continuously all Saturday, creating commercial activity that complements the craft market. The atmosphere is warm and friendly in the decorated streets of the historic center of Die.
The Die Christmas Market is part of the tradition of Drôme Christmas markets, combining authenticity and conviviality. It offers a local, human-sized alternative to the large Christmas markets of major cities. Admission is free, making this day accessible to everyone to prepare for the holidays in a good mood and discover the talents of the Diois region.
The Die Christmas Market 2026 will bring together artisans and creators on Place du Mazel, with activities, tastings and Santa Claus's parade as part of "Die fête Noël".
